Winter Wonderland Ride

We started out the ride in the fall, and finished in the winter. Somewhere out there Jeff Z took us on a Christmas light tour. It was so sweet, ya shoulda been there. But just to give you the feeling here are a few shots. And oh yeah there was some mud. On the ride: Tony, Jeff Z, Trekking Dave (soon to be Stud Boy from Hell or something like that) Mr. Kim Lee, (above) and self.

  1. Ooops. Forgot to add that Dave (Simple Green) was on the ride, rocking his new SS Green Redline. Very nice. Awesome gears dude! Another thing I forgot was to give a photo credit to Dave (Stud Boy From Hell) Staublin. Thanks Stud Boy From Hell, or whatever your new name is!

  2. If seeing "Santa-Cross" doesn’t get you in the mood for Christmas, I don’t know what will. Nice camera work by TrekkinDave.

  4. As we rode through the cold and dark, a distant female voice called out "What's your name?!?"

Without a moment's hesitation, I responded "Studboy Niterider!"

An in that moment, a new persona was born.

  6. Rode the mountain bike last night which makes for a different ride. It was a lot easier going over the potholes and bumps and the bike was a lot more stable through the slick stuff. I was a bit more confident but it was lot harder keeping the bike going-more watts required. Riding the 29'er some of the time may make for a nice distraction. I will be able to keep my 'bastard membership card, right?

  7. I believe BK has officially changed his moniker to "StudBoy NiteRider" when while riding back up Murray Lake road toward Dunn after the Christmas light tour and we passed a meth lab with some stoned chick hooting and hollering asking what our names were and something about an itch that needed scratching (?). I, of course, could only come up with a grumpy "Hoe! Hoe! Hoe!" and continued on. Studboy, of course, had a much better response!
I think I gotta get some lock-tite for my chain tensioner, as trying to push that big gear up the Hill on Dunn, then cruising along with Surly on 7 Mile (Or maybe it even started when I tried sprinting for the deer?) I somehow torqued the tensioning spring so much that it popped! Limped back in trying not to throw the chain. The first 20 miles were good.
Thanks to Mr. Kim Lee for pacing me back in last night to make sure that I didn't get lost in the snow storm!
Fun Ride! Looking forward to doing it again next week. Good Luck at States you Bastards!
