Warriors Of Cyclocross Video Clips

Sorry no new posts lately. I'm working on a compilation video from the last few Bastard rides but haven't completed it yet due to, well, working. Hope this little video holds you over until then - it's a bunch of clips from one of the last Jingle-Cross races. Pretty nice could use better "Warrior" music. Then again, the tune ain't all that bad.

MUSKRAT LOVE RIDE AND THE INDOOR GOLF OF CROSS

Great ride last night with JZ Jeff, Matty Ice, Big Mac and myself. Plus some Muskrats and other beasts scurrying all over the road. It was just like spring last night. Roads were pretty much dirt, temps were mild. Muskrat love, for sure. Check it out Muskrat lovers ...

If you don't love Muskrats, then maybe you'd like a look at the last cross race of the year that they have every year in Europe. It's an indoor goof-fest where Nys usually slaughters everybody by jumping over and through everything. It's like the indoor golf of 'cross.

Also make sure you check out the Versluis Snowcross story now up on Cyclocross Magazine. Thanks to CXM for recognizing that we've got our 'cross on in Michigan.

THE CHEF SAYS RIDE - PLUS MIGUEL CABRERA'S MUG SHOT!

When the Chef clicks his Cyclocross tongs of wisdom, people listen.

I couldn't decided whether or not (weather or not) to ride tonight so I consulted the Cyclocross Chef of Knowledge (pictured above if you've never visited this blog before). The Chef snapped his tongs together and said: GO FOR IT DUDE! While he says the road surfaces may be a little tender after being set on a medium heat, there should be an AWESOME SAUCE cover the road surface that should have the distinct flavor of Racoon Ass. If you know what that tastes like, you should be very pleased. The Chef also says he doesn't expect and GLAZING or CARMELIZING of the roads until later. About the time we'll all be at the HC. So, I won't be rocking any fenders, so look out if I'm in front of you or you'll get spattered with some AWESOME SAUCE. Other than that, hope to see some of you kids tonight.

On a totally unrelated note I'm posting Miguel Cabrera's (Tiger Slugger) mugshot from an arrest for DUI, open container (if you call swigging hooch directly out of the bottle of scotch into your pie hole "open") and generally being a big dummy, in Florida, about a week ago. The reason I'm posting it is that it seems the Big Mig is pretty happy about getting busted. Just look at him - certainly no Rip Torn, Nick Nolte, Charlie Sheen or the usual disheveled celbutard mug shot here. I guess the guy's a real tiger, huh?

LAST NIGHT'S RIDE: IT WAS A YANNI KIND OF NIGHT - COLD BUT ROMANTIC

What a night for a ride - yeah it was beautiful, you beautiful people - many of whom weren't there. But a small group makes it even more beautiful and romantic, doesn't it? To get in the mood for the super sweet and super romantic photos to follow I suggest you play the Yanni video below. Start the video and then start rolling down while listening to the fine Yanni sounds. If you watch the video you're out of the club, er, gang. Now enjoy.

Kahuna ready to roll. He's actually waiting for his flight to leave, but he's got a few minutes. Big Kahuna, International man of mystery. Yeah, he's hiding something behind that mask.

Steve's new whip. He's been riding it all winter but this is the first time anybody's seen it (on this ride) because it's always dark. I thought it was pink, but no, it's prettier than that, it's greenish yellow.

This is an actual photo taken while riding last night. I know you thought it was from a gift shop in Mackinaw City, or Cheyboygan, of Frankenmuth, didn't you?

Pathfinder, JeffZ (I think we'll start calling him Coldfinger) at an early intersection along with Kahuna and Steve.

Now I've gotten into the same shot so everybody at home can see us on vacation. Actually this make is look like there were 6 people on the ride.

The goodbye shot. The sun is just about gone, the snow is still there and it's time to turn on the lights and ride home.

LAST EURO CROSS RACE OF THE YEAR ALMOST ENDS WITH HAMBURGER EATING WIMPY TAKING OUT WORLD CHAMP

While we were enjoying great mud at home, the Euros were having their last race of the year and dry conditions. Imagine. This video is worth watching for the strength of the effort these guys are laying down, not to mention the awesome part where a bunch of spectators, one with hamburger in hand is standing in the middle of the track and almost takes out Albert. Very nice.

Don't know if we are riding tonight. Didn't drive all day yesterday, our side streets are full of snow, and the city's 90% plowed doesn't mean poop here. But hopefully we'll get out.

Thanks to Big Mac for his video this weekend. It drew all-time highs of over 300 visitors a day to our stinky little site. Well done Big Mac, you are our official Bastard Videographer.

Look for an update on riding tonight - or - what the hell, just go ride dammit!

VERSLUIS MUD CROSS -NEW VIDEO BY BIG MAC JUST ADDED!

BIG MAC (Adam McIntyre) just posted this video of the race yesterday to YouTube. Makes my video, below, look totally lame - and I love it! Especially since there are plenty of gruesome shots of my throwing it down ... Thanks Big Mac, this is a great video, dude!

What an epic race! Yeah, I said epic, dammit. Cyclocross addicts everywhere and anywhere would give their left tubular to race in great mud like we had yesterday. Thanks again to the Farm Team, the Farmer and the glamorous Farmers wife put this great race on. Here's a little video that I slapped together, and because my film crew didn't make it around the whole course you don't get the whole scene - but it's not bad. Check out the photos by Jack Kunnen, and Josh Duggan for more shots of this epic event.

VERSLUIS SNOWCROSS II TOMORROW

First - great ride last night, with a little soupy mud, but not too bad. Smaller, but brave group of Kim T, Eric Kimber, the one and only Bob S, Steve B, Redline Bastard, and myself. There was somebody else but they drown in a bottomless mud hole. I have some video I'll try to put together later.

Now on with the mud. I'm hoping that the temps stay warm, that everybody comes out, and we have a real Euro-Style cross race. Bring your bikes, bring your beer, and bring something to clean the muck off. Here's a little video of what real Belgy-Style cross racing is - not that sanitized World Cup stuff, here's what people like us call racing in Belgium.

Enjoy, and see you Bastards tomorrow! Reg opens at 10 the races go off at noon, party starts about 1 - 1:30. BE THERE!

THINKING OF RIDING TONIGHT WITH YOUR MUDDY BUDDIES?

Deep mud on the Bastard loops has been nearly absent this year ... will tonight be a different story? Who knows. I'll ask the Cyclocross Chef of Knowledge, and get back to you with his deep fried evaluation of the situation.

Would you care for some mayo or mud with your frites?

Actually I don't think that the CCOK knows what awaits us out there tonight, I just know there's been growing interest in the ride since the temperature have become so damn balmy lately. Mud or not, I'm planning on a ride. A little mud riding might be good practice for the race coming our way this weekend - THE VERSLUIS SNOWCROSS II. Reports from the racecourse are telling me it's deep mud. While some of you may wrinkle your brow at the prospect of deep gooey mud, those of you who love the cyclocross, won't want to pass up the chance to dip your wheels in the brown stuff. In case you forgot what it was like racing in mud, I've brought this blast from the past for your enjoyment.

Hope to see you tonight for our 6 p.m. roll-out. And about those fenders ... we don't need no stinkin' fenders ... do we? I might bring a bike washer though.

RIDE REPORT: THE CHEF SERVES UP DELICIOUS DIRTY ROADS AND AWESOME YUMMY TEMPERATURES

The only one who knew how great the ride was going to be last night was the Cyclocross Chef of knowledge. Yeah he knows everything, damn him. The Chef once again miraculously served up some great deep-fried riding conditions and temperatures in the low 40's that saw 9 Crazy Bastards hit the road - well, nobody hit the road, thank goodness. Lots of open dirt, with little no absolutely no mud (but thanks for the fender advice anyway Kahuna) and only a few slightly sketchy, but very manageable slick sections. Unless it rains or hurricanes we'll be back for more on Thursday.

Thanks to Flying Bats, in a sort-of-way, for the first round - big bunch at the HC.

If you missed the last two Women's World Cup racing videos, check this one out. Hopefully it will get you fired up for Versluis Snowcross II on Saturday.

RIDE TONIGHT - PLUS: WINTER TRAINING - IT'S LIKE LEARNING JAPANESE -

Having let my training slip a little during the past couple of weeks I now find myself now ill-prepared for the upcoming Versluis Snowcross II, this coming Saturday. While Joseph W. Grimes (pictured above) may find that riding the Cleveland Bicycle will bring back his form, for me, I not so sure a new bike, even one from Cleveland, is going to help much.

After reading countless, (wow) almost endless posts on Facebook about every ride, trip to the gym, spin class, cross country ski outing, number of trips up the stairs, Winter Tri's, that all my friends have been partaking in during the last month I decided, with only few days to the race left, that I should take some serious action. So I went out and bought a new heart-rate monitor to replace the failing heart-monitor I've had for the last 5-years. I based my purchase by buying the HR Monitor with the best looking, and fittest people on the packaging. (See above). I was also pretty excited about the fact that this HR Monitor, alone, would once again make exercise exciting and fun, not to mention what ever that babble in French is.

I was also glad to see that it would register heart rates, pictured above, of anywhere from 127 to 132. For the past year my HR Monitor would not budge above 98. I'm assuming that this was a mechanical issue on the monitor's part, and not my heart's part. I guess I'll find out when I strap this baby on for tonight's ride.

Now the only other problem I have is that before training I'm going to have to learn to read Japanese. I'm assuming that this is Japanese. But it could be Mandarin Chinese, or Thai, for all I know. So I might be a little late getting there tonight, but I plan on being there. And hopefully I'll have all the HR Monitor's functions figured out so I can download my heart beats, from the entire ride, and beer drinking session afterward at the HC, on Facebook so all my friends can see how awesome I am.

Later, Bastards.

BIG MAC ATTACKS A BIKE BUILD

Talented beyond belief both on and off the bike our own Big Mac shows his stuff in this beautiful time-lapse video of him building up a new cyclocross bike. Great job, fun to watch. Makes you want to build a new crosser, doesn't it? Come to think of it there's one the garage I need to get wrenching on - and now that the weather has warmed up ... enjoy the bike build, it's Bastardly fun.

WORLD CLASS WOMEN'S CYCLOCROSS VIDEO

Another great video from the guy who did the WC women's video a week or so ago. You have to see some of the terrain these women are riding. It's downright scary - not to mention the climb that looks like a climbing wall. But I don't know about all these videos about women cyclocrossers - and the fact that I keep posting them all here. It's like Crazy Bastards Cross is becoming some kind of mud-covered Cycling Chic. Yuck. I guess.

Hope this gets you fired up for next week's cross race at Versluis'.

PREPARING FOR THE NEXT SNOWCROSS

While everybody is in their basement training hard for the next Versluis Snowcross, I'm working on a sign for the back of my jersey. So far this is all I've got. If you have some editing suggestions, let me know.

DON'T EVEN ASK ME TO MOVE OVER
AND DON'T SAY
ON MY LEFT
OR RIGHT
JUST
GO
AROUND
ME
FAST
WITHOUT
KNOCKING US BOTH DOWN
AND DON'T MAKE ME
PASS YOU LATER
BECAUSE
THAT WILL
REALLY
PISS
ME
OFF
(OTHER THAN THAT HAVE A NICE DAY, YOU FREAKIN' D-BAG)

Thankfully I have been eating well so there will be plenty of room for the full sign should I care to place it on my back.

Remember the Snowcross is coming, so prepare now!!!!!! Check Farm Team Racing for more details.

MOON BOOT RIDE!

Thanks to the Crazy Bastards fan that sent us this lovely collection of MOON BOOT photos. They are certainly MOON BOOTIRIFIC!

Because of work obligations I don't know if I'm going to be able to get out for tonight's ride. It's been quiet out there, so I'm not sure who else is up for a turn or two in the snow. Probably Redline Bastard. Let me know. I may be late, and in that case I could catch up with you by doing a reverse ride or something.

Too bad these boots are just made for walking - like walking into a bar at a ski lodge. Wouldn't they make just great winter cycling boots? All they'd need is a carbon fiber sole.

Yeah, and the color says Bastard, doesn't it?

EURO CROSS RACING VIDEO UPDATES

Here's another of the latest cross racing videos from Europe - this race just took place in the last week. Looks like Nys is in great form, with Prince Albert right on his heels. All you Mountain Bikers need to watch this ... another crazy course with lot of opportunities for OTB action.

WOMEN'S WORLD CHAMPION VIDEO

Katie didn't win it, but she gave it a good shot. Vos is tough one, but I'm sure Katie will get by her in the future for the gold. Here's a video, with a strange selection of music that can mean only one thing - it's European. Actually the guy who did this video did an entire series on the Elite women's racing this year. Check it out, it has some great images and gives you a real flavor for what it must be like to be at World's.

ARE YOU FEELING LUCKY? RIDE TONIGHT

Are you feeling lucky? Well are you? Do you think that the Bastard loop will be rideable? Do you think there will be any beer and carp left at the Honey Creek? Do you think Robin will even remember who you are? WELL DO YOU PUNK? Well in all the excitement I forgot to plug in my light, so I'll guess I'll do it now.

Redline ... if you could give us a road review it might help in deciding to ride or not to ride tonight. Thanks Redline.

While we're waiting we can watch this ... again and again. It never gets old, does it?

WAITING FOR THE SNOWPOCALYPSE NOW

Matty Ice showing us how to ride on snow (Single-Speed Style) at the recent Versluis Snowcross.

According to the media the worst "snowy-snowstorm" ever is on the way. While Redline Bastard will question our manhood for not showing up to ride tonight, I think a pass is due anyone who doesn't want to get caught driving out to the "hinterland," for a bike ride.

If it looks like the SNOWPOCALYPSE is going to hold off, I might be tempted to run out for a quick loop since it looks like when the storm does hit the universe and mankind (according to TV 8 and Terri DeBoer) is going to come to a white fluffy end. I guess that this is what is going to look like ...

Kind of a cute way to go, isn't it?

Getting caught in the snow also might have some dangerous side-effects that aren't so white fluffy and cute. Here, in this weird video some guy tells us how happy big snowstorms make wolves. Yeah they eat him at the end of the video.

Anyway if I do make it out I'm taking matches, a copy of Jack London's to light a fire, a cell phone, some Schnapps and tow heated trailer around behind my bike.

Let me know if anybody else is crazy enough to ride tonight

Who are those fuzzy people riding out in the snow?
